A Brief History of  Delano, MN

Much of the city's history can be traced to the railroad. In 1868, the first rails were laid in the area and, when the locals decided against naming the city after the Crow River, they chose the surname of the railroad's superintendant, Francis Roach Delano. 

By 1876, the village was incorporated. By the turn of the 20th century, the city was booming.
