As a small city on the western edge of the Twin Cities metro, Hanover has a remarkable downtown district along the Crow River. The city has a history going back to 1877. Hanover, MN, had a population of approximately 3000 in 2020.
Incorporated in 1890, the city was initially named Vollbrecht Mills. Early development of the “Little City on the Crow” can be attributed to the Vollbrecht brothers, one of whom established a successful blacksmith shop.
Ultimately, the Vollbrechts would name the city after the Hannover they knew in their home country of Germany.
A property's location is the most important on its list of valuable attributes.
In Hanover, riverfront property along the Crow River demands a high price. Many homes scattered throughout the countryside have proven to be in-demand.
Technically, Hanover itself only has one school, an elementary school, which was among the highest ranking in the state as of 2020. Most of Hanover's children attend schools in the neighboring cities such as Saint Michael and Buffalo.
Hanover is very small but has its own unique flavor of fun. Among its largest attractions is the Crow-Hassan Park Reserve, which features extensive forest trails as well as restored prairies. Additionally, the city's park board is active in providing activities for families of all backgrounds.
