Before the Great Northern Railroad arrived in the area, the Minnetonka area was a sacred place for the Native Americans. Burial mounds were found there prior to the development of the area as a nationally known getaway.
Tourists from around the United States arrived by train prior to the turn of the 20th century in order to partake in the natural beauty of Spring Park.
